music research

I have chosen to make a rock magazine and picked magazines such as NME, Rolling Stone and Kerrang to help me decide what i want my magazine to represent and how i want it to look. In this image NME have placed Pete just to the right on the cover in order to get all the vital information down the left with "juicier" info bigger, e.g. the quote on the left here has bigger writing and a pink block behind it to help attract attention and to make people want to buy it. They also advertise other such attractions on the cover like "WIN!" in a blob on the right to enforce the idea of buying to magazine, who wouldn't want to spend a few pennys and win a festival ticket?

Kerrang have taken a different approach in presenting their magazine, they've placed their main picture in the middle with the  information on the right which isn't the usual practice but still works. They have also initiated a a little rhyme "hugs not drugs" which is funny because Kurt Cobain was famously on drugs at a point in his career. Kerrang have also implemented the use od a big bubble advertising a personal message from thunder! again, encouraging people to buy the magazine

Rolling Stone have quite a different magazine cover, with a plain background and not a lot of colour. but it works where the main picture is a contrasting colour. Also They've done it so that Rick Ross manages to take up the whole of the magazine which is very unusual
